Lumbar spine paracentral disc herniation - Male

Lumbar spine animation depicts the normal anatomy showing the lumbar vertebrae, inter-vertebral discs, spinal cord, cauda equina, thecal sac, annulus, nucleus pulposus and nerve roots along with a paracentral disc herniation (protrusion) with encroachment and impingement on the exiting nerve root which can lead to paresthesia and sciatica. This type of injury may be an acute or chronic condition that can produces symptoms such as, tingling, burning, aching pain along the specific nerve root distributions from the lower back down the leg and into the foot.
